About Us
You can imagine a forest, filled with spruce, birch, and rowan. A forest that is so dense that it allows very little sunlight to get through. A wild place sometimes intertwined with meadows blooming with violet cranesbills and red knotgrass, flowing water being the only sound to be heard. The ice-cold air has a very strong and fresh fragrance of resin and moist mosses. Above it all are the mountains, directly falling into the open sea. The sun is almost never going behind the horizon, at least in summer as in the winter time the darkness of the polar night will cover everything almost impenetrably. The moonlight, stars, and aurora are left as the only sources of cold, ambient light.
This is exactly the land where about 1000 years ago a new fascinating and wild cat breed emerged - The Norwegian forest cat (no. Norsk skogkatt). These long-haired, gently-tempered, large and somewhat majestic cats are a living part of a wild world. The modern climate of Scandinavia does not really differ a lot from the one in past days. Our cattery is led in conditions that are as similar to the natural ones as much as they only can be. The cats have an access to safe pens and runs, although they can also spend time in-house if they wish. However, we want them to spend as much time in nature as possible, all year round.
Recently, we have also begun breeding another cat race- the Korats. One of the rarest cat breeds in the world! It might be difficult to put in words their stunning character and beautiful appearance. They have an amazing contact with people, which one only can experience by oneself.
We wish everyone could live through that unique adventure, having one of those beautiful cats as companions and getting to know their spirit. The animals can teach us people so much about the natural world, appreciate its harmony and get closer to it.
We are members of Hålogalandkatten Klubb and Norske Rasekattklubbers Riksforbund.
